The West Country’s leading independent food service supplier, M. J. Baker Foodservice, has recently taken delivery of its second Aisle Master articulated forklift with a cold store specification to keep pace with its busy schedule of deliveries of its ambient, chilled and frozen products.
The reliable and efficient operation of the first Aisle Master and its ability to operate in very narrow aisles of 1800mm pallet to pallet impressed Operations Manager Chris Bowden, who had no hesitation in choosing the same brand again. “We experienced considerable problems and down time with another brand of articulated truck, so it was a relief to have very dependable handling equipment to hand.”
Both trucks are 2t capacity 20SE models with powerful 930 Ah batteries to ensure lengthy operation in the relatively unforgiving temperature of minus 25⁰ C. A high frequency charge overnight keeps them running for the whole of the operational shift to ensure constant availability. “We appreciate the Aisle Masters’ efficiency to keep our operations running smoothly,” said Chris. “They work for a good 16 hours a day; the drivers find them easy to operate and the change in temperature from the freezer to the ambient area has no negative effect whatsoever on their performance.”
